Terrain: mostly flat or undulating coastal roads, before turning inland through forests and farms; one fairly big climb on Day 3

Roads: after a stretch of cycle road north of Akita City, the route follows the coast road which is surprisingly quiet. The only heavy traffic is through Aomori City, but even there it is not too bad.

Accommodation: There are campsite dotted along the route and cheap hotels elsewhere.

The Akita and Aomori coast offers fantastic cycling on scenic roads with little traffic. The stretch of coast north of Akita city has hundreds of wind turbines which means strong winds are likely. Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly! Further north, the rocky coast is stunning.
