To take part in Parkrun, you just need to turn up a few minutes before the start time. Remember to bring your barcode and carry it with you on the run. Just before the start, there is a short run briefing, and at many Parkruns they give a cheer to first timers. Everyone starts together – fast runners, joggers, and walkers. There is a tail walker, so no one is left out on their own. When you reach the finish, a volunteer gives you a small tag with a code on it, and you give this to another volunteer who scans this tag together with your personal barcode. An hour or two later, you receive an email with a link to the results. All of your times will be stored on your Profile page, as well as your best times each year and your "age graded percentage". This shows your time as a percentage of the world record for your age and gender.
